In the recent Railway Budget, it was promised that The Indian Railways will come up with advance technology, which will not only help the management, but also the public. The Indian Railways has launched a beta version of the website trainenquire.com, which enables passengers to know the current status of trains including time and other details.
The new TrainEnquiry.com site has been developed by Indian Railway’s National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and promises to the needs of modern-day Indian Railways passengers and their expectations of online user experience. The new website will not only provide the running status of trains but will also help you track the exact location of trains across the country.
The site has got a new look, which is currently in beta. In order to know the status of a train, all you need to do is either enter the train number or the name of the train. Alternatively, you can enter the “From” and “To” station codes or the station names. A drop-down list with matching train names/stations will be shown, from which you need select the appropriate train.
In the next page, you will be shown the current train status details including, location, time, expected time of arrival, next two stops, and previous two stops.
More or less, the site is very user friendly, unlike the older version, which has annoying pop-ups! However, the website is not currently designed for mobile users, so it isn’t completely mobile friendly. Perhaps an integration with Google Maps would be great and we hope to see that when the site comes out of beta.
