BSNL Launches Aakash Tablet’s Rival – Penta T-Pad

In competition with the World’s cheapest tablet – Aakash, BSNL has now launched the Penta TPad tablet series, which includes three new tablets including two 7-inch resistive screen size tablets, powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen tablet with higher specifications.

The Penta TPad IS 710r is a 7-inch tablet and is similar to the Aaksah tablet is terms of features and specifications. The tablet has a faster 1GHz processor with 256MB RAM, and comes with a VGA cameras. However, it does not support SIM card insertion and GPRS connectivity. The tablet runs on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and is equipped with Wi-Fi support.

Additionally, it has a HDMI port to connect the tablet to a TV and can play back HD videos, including MKV format. It also has a USB post. The Penta TPad IS 710r also comes with a 2GB storage space and is expandable up to 32GB using Micro SD card.

Along with the Penta TPad IS 710r tablet, the company is also selling two more tablets – T-Pad WS 704C and the T-Pad WS 802C.

The Penta TPad tablet series are produced by a Noida based company called Pantel Technologies, which has partnered with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), to jointly address the data consumption & ICT needs of Indian consumers by launching a range of Internet Tablets, named “Penta TPAD’s” bundled with the data services of BSNL-3G.

Pricing and Availability of Penta TPad

The Penta TPad IS 701r is priced at Rs. 3,250 (approx. $66 USD), while the higher end version – T-Pad WS 704C is priced at Rs. 10,999 (approx. $224 USD) and the T-Pad WS 7802C is priced at Rs. 13,500 (approx. $275 USD).
