A new scam on Facebook has been reportedly spreading like wildfire enticing users to click on the scam link. The scam is spreading with the title – “99% 0f People Cant even Watch This Video F0r More Than 25 Secs” along with a message – “click and watch this video I dare you”.
Clicking on the scam link will take you to a bogus page where you will be asked to install a missing plugin in order to watch the video. DO NOT click on the “install plugin” link as it will download a malware program on your computer which is designed to gather information present on your computer and send the same to the scammers.
You Facebook account will be automatically click-jacked and like-jacked, which will spread the scam message across your wall. You will be asked to “share” and “like” the message on Facebook, after which you are promised to view the video.
However, even after sharing and “liking” the video on Facebook, you will not be shown any video. Instead, you will be redirected to another bogus site, where you will be asked to complete a set of online surveys.
Clicking links like this on Facebook will pose threat to your computer and Facebook account. Chances are there that your Facebook account might be compromised. If you have clicked the link by mistake, then I advise you to run a full anti-virus scan and change the password of your accounts.
It is recommended that you avoid clicking links on Facebook, and stop sharing any irrelevant post messages.
